01 Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Contact & enquiry forms: your name, email address, phone number and the details of your enquiry or project.
• Newsletter signup (including our popup): your name and email address, and a record of your consent.
• Accounts on our platforms — Serene AI, Uganda Tender Hub, Marketplace Hub and the Clients Portal: account details such as your name, email, login credentials and the content or listings you create.
• Usage & technical data: device type, browser, approximate location and pages visited, collected through cookies and analytics.

02 How we use your data

We use personal data to:

• Respond to enquiries, prepare quotes and provide our engineering, design and quantity surveying services.
• Send newsletters, updates and marketing you have asked to receive (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• Create and administer your accounts on Serene AI, Uganda Tender Hub, Marketplace Hub and the Clients Portal.
• Operate, secure and improve our website and platforms, and understand how they are used.
• Comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

03 Legal basis & consent

Under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, we process personal data on the following bases:

• Consent: for newsletters, marketing and certain cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
• Contract: where processing is needed to provide services you have requested.
• Legal obligation: where we must process data to comply with the law.
• Legitimate interests: to run and secure our business, balanced against your rights.

04 Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it with:

• Payment processors such as PayPal and mobile money providers, to process payments you make.
• Hosting and service providers who store and help us operate our website and platforms.
• Professionals in our network — only where you have given consent for your details to be passed on.
• Authorities where required by law.

05 Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, to comply with legal, tax and accounting requirements, or as long as you have an active account. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

06 Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and you share data with us at your own risk.

07 Cookies

• Our newsletter popup uses a cookie to remember when you have already seen or dismissed it, so it does not reappear for 14 days.
• Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended.

09 Children

Our website and platforms are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate consent from a parent or guardian.

10 International transfers

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Uganda. Where we transfer personal data abroad, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with the Act.

11 Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, please contact us first at info@serenecreations.org. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Office (PDPO) of Uganda.
